Death claim notification

We understand that losing a loved one is an emotional and challenging time. We're here to support you through the process of claiming your loved one's super and insurance benefits.

To start the claim process, please notify us of the member's death using the form below. If you're unsure about the types of accounts the member had, don't worry - we'll check and inform you.

We'll assign a dedicated Case Manager to guide you through each step, keep you updated, and answer any questions you may have.

There are two steps to making a claim:

  1. Notify us of the member’s death using the form below, or by calling us on 1300 650 873.
  2. Complete and send the relevant claims form(s) with supporting documentation. We’ll send you all the necessary information after you notify us. You can also find out more here.

Your dedicated case manager will be in touch to introduce themselves and guide you on how to make the claim.

Our Privacy policy explains how we protect, use and share the personal information you provide. It also lets you know your rights regarding that information.

A superannuation death benefit is payable from a superannuation fund when a member passes away. It includes the member’s super account balance, any insurance benefits that may be payable, and earnings on the account balance up to the date of payment, minus fees, insurance premiums, and any applicable taxes.

Under current legislation, a death benefit is payable to valid beneficiaries, including:

  • The deceased member’s dependants
  • The deceased member’s legal personal representative (executor of their will or administrator of their estate)

To notify us of the member’s death and download the claims pack, you'll need:

  • The deceased person’s member number with the fund
  • The deceased member’s given name, last name, and date of death
  • The last known residential address of the member
  • Your name and contact details as the notifier and/or potential claimant

Our Privacy policy explains how we protect, use and share the personal information you provide. It also lets you know your rights regarding that information.

Within 24 hours of submitting the notification form, you'll receive an email with a link to the claims pack web page. This page contains information on what you need to do to make the claim, including forms to complete and supporting documents to supply.

We'll assign a dedicated case manager to help you through the process of claiming super and insurance benefits (if any). They’ll provide guidance, answer any questions, and make the process as easy as possible.

When you notify us of a member’s death, we validate the information to ensure we have identified the right member. We’ll then freeze the member’s account, turn off any account fees, and move their account balance to the cash investment option to protect the fund from negative market conditions.
