Planned Member Online outage
We're making important updates to Member Online from Friday 24 July, 6:00pm to Monday 27 July, morning. During the outage, you won't be able to log in and view your personalised notice. You can access a generic version here

This premium change doesn’t impact you

You've heard from us because you're part of the Heritage TelstraSuper Personal Plus group.

However, this premium change only affects members who currently hold Death or Death & Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) cover – so if you don’t, there’s nothing you need to do.

If one day you decide to get insurance, it's worth knowing what's changing.

When to consider insurance

If something unexpected happens to you or your family, like death, terminal illness, or permanent disability, it can be helpful to be covered by insurance.

Everyone is different, so you should think about what works best for your circumstances. Some common reasons for considering insurance include:

  • You buy a home or take on new debt.
  • You get married or start a family.
  • You start caring for people who depend on your income.
  • Your health or financial situation changes.

Taking out cover

Apply for insurance cover anytime through Member Online. You can also explore your options with our insurance cost calculator or read 'The cost of your insurance' in the Insurance Handbook — Heritage TelstraSuper Personal Plus.

Good to know on timing

  • If you take out insurance cover before 1 September 2026, you’ll pay the current premium rates until the increase takes effect on 1 September 2026.

  • Our insurance calculator and the Insurance Handbook won't reflect the new Heritage TelstraSuper Personal Plus premium rates until 1 September 2026. To see the new rates before then, use the rate tables in the notice we sent you.

  • From 1 September 2026, the calculator and Handbook will show the new rates.

FAQs

If you're aged 70 or older and received the Significant Event Notice (SEN), you don't need to take any action. This SEN was sent to Heritage TelstraSuper Personal Plus members who don't currently hold insurance cover with Aware Super.

Some information in the SEN refers to applying for insurance cover in the future, however, Heritage TelstraSuper Personal Plus members aged 70 and over are not eligible to apply for new insurance cover through Aware Super.

Receiving the SEN does not affect your super account, benefits or entitlements. The notice was provided for information only and you can disregard any references to applying for insurance cover in the future.

If you have questions about your individual circumstances, please contact us for assistance.

Any cover you hold will increase as outlined in the notice we sent you, from 1 September 2026.

Use the rate tables in the notice to calculate the estimated cost of your cover from 1 September 2026, or our insurance cost calculator after the premium has increased.

There are a few things that affect your premium, including your age, cover amount, cover type (Death or Death & TPD), insurance category, gender (where applicable), and any loadings applied by the insurer to your cover.

That depends on your personal circumstances. Use our insurance calculator to estimate the right level of cover for you. It can also be helpful to speak to a financial adviser.
