Tilt Renewables is Australia’s largest owner of wind and solar generation in Australia and is committed to supporting Australia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Tilt currently operates nine Australian renewable energy projects across NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, and has another seven projects under development. When it is completed, the Rye Park Wind Farm will be the largest windfarm in NSW.
Tilt’s existing wind and solar farms deliver around 2,400 gigawatt hours each year. That’s enough to replace an equivalent amount of fossil fuels and power 465,000 average Australian homes each year.
At Aware, we’re committed to supporting the global energy transition by investing where we see the potential for strong long-term returns for our members. Our investment in Tilt is a good example. Tilt is contributing to Australia’s efforts to combat climate change through decarbonising our energy generation mix. It is contributing to Australia’s Paris Climate Agreement on greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets - to reduce emissions by 26-28% from 2005 levels, by 2030.
Returns to our members come from profits from Tilt’s business. AGL Energy has the first right to buy all of Tilt’s electricity and ‘green certificates’ from current assets as well as those under construction for an initial five-year period, with an option to extend by five years. Tilt can go to market for any remaining energy AGL cannot take up.
