Starting to plan your retirement?

Although your retirement may still be a while away, the earlier you start planning, the better.

When you choose Aware Super, you can head towards retirement with confidence. We’re Finder’s Super Provider of the Year[A1] and Chant West’s Super Fund of the Year and Pension Fund of the Year in 2024.[A6]

MySuper Lifecycle, the smart way to invest your super

MySuper Lifecycle. It really does revolve around you. This investment approach will fine-tune your investment mix over time to help you retire with more. It’s a smart investment approach that puts you at its centre.

After you turn 56, it will automatically reduce your exposure to market ups-and-downs. This makes your super less risky as you start to think about retirement.

This is the default strategy for all members,
but you still have control over how your super is invested. You can opt out at any time and fine-tune your investments in the member portal.

Why invest with MySuper Lifecycle?

Account keeping fee: $1/week

The account keeping fee on a Future Saver account is a competitive $52 per year. You’ll also pay an asset-based administration fee of 0.15% per year ($75 per $50,000), capped at $62.50 per month.

Competitive fees[F1] is one of the reasons we’ve been recognised by Canstar for Outstanding Value Superannuation[A1] for three years running.

Strong, long term performance

For members aged 55 and under, our default MySuper Lifecycle High Growth option delivered a strong 8.98%[P1] return per annum to 31 December 2024.

Members 56-59 invested in the MySuper Lifecycle are gradually moved from 100% High Growth investment towards a more conservative mix as they approach retirement.

Retire with confidence

With the MySuper Lifecycle investment approach, your super money is invested so it can grow over time. The more money your investments earn, the more super you have in retirement. This approach helps you grow your super savings while you’re young and manage investment risk as you get closer to retirement.

How one teacher prepared for retirement with Aware Super

Lauren is a retired teacher whose financial adviser guided, informed, and explained the steps that she might take when thinking about her retirement.

For anyone thinking about retirement, Lauren recommends seeing a financial planner and working with them to figure out what you want. She found that her advisor was able to guide her toward her financial goals.

As a woman, when I first sought financial advice it was daunting and the more I learnt, the more empowered I was, and I think all women should know everything there is to know about their financial future.

While I was working, I really didn't pay much attention to my superannuation.

To be honest, I didn't even open the envelopes that they sent me every year.

I went to my financial advisor and asked, "Where I'm at now and what are my options?"

And my financial advisor then worked really closely with me and guided me, informed me and gave me lots of options.

So he would do things like draw buckets on the whiteboard and explain my different options, and then say, "Think about these options, next time I see you, you're going to tell me which one you're most comfortable with."

I decided to leave teaching, leave Sydney and move to Bangalow.

I do a walk every morning,

I do the lighthouse walk twice a week.

Being retired I now have time to do the things I really like to do.

Just enjoying the good life, not having to rush everywhere.

For anyone who's considering retirement, I would say the first thing you need to do is make an appointment with your financial planner.

Start working out what you want to do, when you want to do it, and how you're going to get there.

Listen to the advice, get upskilled, get more knowledgeable.

Seeing my financial planner empowered me to be in control of my future.

It was my dream and my financial planner helped me make it come true.
